Birth & Postpartum Doula Profile - Sabrina Pereira
Sabrina is a Cape Verdean birth and postpartum doula. Sabrina is also an aspiring midwife. With strong powerful midwifery care stories from her family living in the Cape Verdean islands and hearing her aunts roles as doula’s during births in the family truly inspires her to give the best care to birthing people. Sabrina believes that birth is something that brings us together and is a miracle that should be treated with respect, comfort and love. Sabrina attends every birth with a positive light and solemnity.

Sabrina graduated from Salem State University with a Bachelors in Biology and minor in Chemistry. After taking a year off to provide doula support she decided to accept an offer to continue schooling at Birthwise Midiwfery school in Maine. Sabrina’s background in Biology gives her a deeper understanding of medical support during pregnancy and her time at Birthwise is expanding her deep passion for holistic care as well. Growing up with five siblings helped Sabrina develop her deep love for birth work, and infant care in the postpartum. Seeing the love between parents and children is one of her favorite moments of what she does.

Birth doula is not the only support, she also offers: postpartum support, support through trauma, surrogate and intended parent support, placenta encapsulation or burial, and loss support (including miscarriage and termination). Its also important to note how much Sabrina loves getting crafty with diaper cakes and belly casting for anyone willing to let her get covered in plaster, and sing poorly in their kitchen.

Most importantly, Sabrina is always looking to provide the best support for you and your family during this life transition. I would like to be able to give women care that will change their birth experience into a positive memory.”
