Birthing Gently was established in 2002 as Boston’s first doula agency by founder Tara Campbell, CD(DONA),BDT(DONA),LCCE

Our doulas are trained to provide emotional support, physical comfort measures, and advocacy during labor and birth. We also offer prenatal education, lactation support, and postpartum care to help families navigate the challenges and joys of early parenthood.
We are proud to be a part of the Mass General Brigham United Against Racism Project and to actively work towards creating a more inclusive and equitable healthcare system. We are committed to raising awareness about disparities in maternal and infant health outcomes and to advocating for policies that promote health equity for all families.

Our Birth Doulas are experienced in providing support for a wide range of birthing experiences, including VBACs (Vaginal Birth After Cesarean), multiples birth, and families with special needs. We believe every birthing person deserves to feel empowered and supported throughout their pregnancy and birth journey. Our Postpartum Doulas provide emotional support and guidance to help families navigate the many challenges that come with having a new baby. Our doulas are also available to provide education and resources on a variety of topics, including infant development, breastfeeding, postpartum recovery, and self-care. By attending a private childbirth education class, you can ask questions and receive personalized attention from a knowledgeable and experienced instructor. You can also feel more relaxed and comfortable in your own surroundings, which can be especially beneficial for pregnant individuals who may feel anxious or overwhelmed in a group setting. Our private breastfeeding class is designed to provide personalized instruction and guidance to help you establish a successful breastfeeding relationship with your baby. Our Certified Lactation Consultant (CLC) will cover topics such as proper latching, milk supply management, breastfeeding positions, and common challenges that new mothers may face.
In addition to the private class, we also offer in-home lactation support services where our CLC will visit you in the comfort of your own home to provide hands-on assistance and support. Whether you are experiencing issues with breastfeeding latch, nipple pain, low milk supply, or any other breastfeeding concerns, our CLC is here to help.

We have a team of Birth Doulas in our BGMH program who specifically work with families with MassHealth coverage, a sliding scale for those who meet the criteria, and for families in the MGB UAR (United Against Racism Project).
