Postpartum Doula Profile - Amy Urbani

Amy Urbani

“Of all life choices, none is more important to society, none has more far reaching consequences, none represents a more complete blending of social, biological and emotional forces than bringing another life into the world.”
– Victor Fuchs (1983)

When my husband and I first faced the prospect of bringing another life into the world it was a very opportune time for us, as it was during a period when we were fortunate to have been surrounded by friends who had paved the way for us and served as positive role models. Without a doubt, this influence and power of example had a significant positive impact on the outcome of our birthing and early parenting experiences. As an at-home mom since 1993, I have always felt compelled throughout the years to perpetuate a continuum of this type of support. It has been with both joy and a sense of purpose that I have remained involved in the lives of other expectant parents among our friends, neighbors, church and family. Today, as the mother of prospering young adults, I am pleased to offer professional support services to others who are endeavoring to start families of their own. I am a DONA certified birth and postpartum doula. I am a CAPPA trained childbirth educator. My husband and I have been married since 1990, and are the very proud parents of a son and a daughter.
