Postpartum Doula Profile - Marguerite Sabatino

I live in Westford, Massachusetts with my husband Ken and my three children, Abigail 11, Anthony 7, and Rosemary 3. I have had first hand experience with a Cesarean, VBAC, and vaginal births. I received my Birth Doula training from DONA (Doulas of North America) in November of 2002. I received my Postpartum Doula training from DONA (Doulas of North America) in October of 2003.

I am currently seeking certification. I hold a Bachelor's Degree in Psychology (1990) from Merrimack College in North Andover. I am trained and certified in Infant/child/adult CPR First Aid from the Red Cross. I keep up with current parenting trends and support each family's parenting decisions. Each woman's life history is her own and each woman's postpartum period is her own.

Postpartum does not have to be exhausting, frustrating, and overwhelming for the new family. Hiring a postpartum doula can speed the mother's recovery from birth by allowing her to recover at her own pace while the needs of her partner and other children are taken care of. Mothers are more likely to respond to their own needs for emotional, physical, and nutritional support if the needs of the immediate family are being met.
