My decision to be a Birth Doula grew from a "re-birth" of myself. In 2004, I had open-heart surgery to repair a damaged valve in my heart. Although the repair was a complete success and I now feel better than ever, I still felt the need to answer another calling in my heart. I believed that my healed heart was calling me to make a difference in another person's heart. All I needed to do was to listen and understand my "heart's code."

A good friend of mine in the healthcare career field mentioned to me that I'd be terrific as a Doula. I really enjoyed my years in healthcare, and providing caring support for children and adults for over 20 years.

Because I "listened to my heart", I am now a certified Birth Doula and Childbirth Educator. I cannot imagine a more perfect way for me to help others. There will never be words to describe the joy of helping women and their partners to experience and enjoy their own special childbirth, a key life experience that will be remembered their entire lives.

The research clearly proves that Doulas make a big difference. When you have me as a Doula during labor, you improve your chances of having a healthier and more empowering birth. I’ll help you and your partner by taking the “intimidation” out of the hospital experience. My constant, calming presence will allow you to relax together as a couple, and enjoy the birthing process. I’ll explain the physiology and process of birthing, so you’ll have the knowledge to make informed decisions. I’ll also help your partner, so they can take breaks to rest and eat, knowing that I’ll be there offering unconditional support “watching and caring” every moment. We work together as a team providing Mom the tools to feel comfortable before, during and after birth.

My special skills are in mind-body techniques, massage, acupressure, and Reiki. I can teach you self-coping techniques to lower the stress hormones in your system; as a result you will feel more relaxed and more confident in yourself.

As a mother myself of two children, my husband and I have also shared the most rewarding experience in the world, and I continue to be in awe of this miracle!
