Inspired by my work as a prenatal yoga instructor I was drawn to become more involved in working with women by assisting them through the birthing process. I am DONA trained Birth Doula seeking to empower women in the choices they make and direction they would like to take their birth into motherhood.
As a Birth Doula, I intend to:
Support the mother and her partner in the choices they make. Help her in and out of positions in an effort to create space and ease labor pain. Encourage the woman to work with her breath and/or visualizations in an effort to support physical work of birthing, bring relief and encourage a deeper connection with the experiences of her body. Allow for birthing mother to create her naturally emerging rituals.
Prenatal yoga trains the mind, body and breath during the nine-month journey in preparation for the beautiful moment of birth. This practice will strengthen and stretch the body with the attention of mindful alignment. With this practice you will learn; postural and movement techniques utilizing yoga asana, creative visualizations for connection and release, abdominal and pelvic toning, vocal release, pranayana breathing and other tools that can be directly applied to help cope with pain and discomfort during the birthing process.
Prenatal Yoga and Doula Services can be combined to create a path of deep connection with body and mind from conception to the mother’s birth day.
